Great Roads, Great Rides©
The Reviews

September 2005 Issue:
"Often times the method used for finding the 'good'
motorcycle roads can be trial-and-error. We stumble on many of
these roads through blind luck or from miles of hunting them
down. While this is part of the fun of riding, sometimes it's
nice to have someone else do the legwork. If you live in the
Mid-Atlantic region of the country, Jennings Glenn and Dan Bard
have done the work for you by writing a unique motorcycle travel
guide–Great Roads, Great Rides. What makes this book different
from other motorcycle touring books is that it emphasizes the
route, rather than what you’ll see when you travel it."
"...We have taken half a dozen rides using the book. The
directions are clear and accurate. Having the miles between each
set of instructions, along with the total miles for the ride is
helpful in planning stops for taking a break or to eat. Riding
safely at a rapid pace (looking through turns and watching out
for animals) on sections of twisty roads caused several missed
intersections-our own fault for having too much fun."

"For a more local flavor of interesting rides and tours
that would make a fabulous gift to any rider and a fine addition
to any adventurous biker's collection of appealing trips is
Great Roads, Great Rides - A travel guide to over 8,000 miles of
journeys in the Mid-Atlantic region."
"...Each ride route is accompanied by a ride summary
that contains a brief description of the rides with
highlights."
AMA Web Site Review
"AMA members Dan Bard and Jennings Glenn have well over
a half a century of motorcycling behind them, and as residents
of West Virginia and Maryland, they've scouted out some great
places to ride, from the mountains to the shore. Now, they're
sharing some of their favorites in the form of a guidebook.
"...All told, Bard and Glenn have described more than
8,000 miles of great riding."

10 Anniversary Issue - August 2005
"Many times we get 'travel guide' books that are
high-end productions. Hard glossy covers, plenty of four-color
pictures inside, but in the end they are hard to actually use
and most times have to be re-organized by the reader to be put
to use. This is not the case with 'Great Roads, Great
Rides'."
"...If you are planning to ride in the Mid-Atlantic
region this year do yourself a favor and pick up Great Roads,
Great Rides - the authors Jennings Glenn and Dan Bard, have done
all the tough work for you, now you can simply enjoy the
ride."

Reviews From Customers
"I've just completed the best ride I've
ever taken in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia or West
Virginia. It's listed as Ride No. 2 '2001 Nostalgia Run - South
Mountain Loop' in Great Roads, Great Rides."
"...I think it is one of the prettiest, most fun ride I've
ever done east of the Mississippi in 43 years of riding."
- Robert Echard as quoted from September/October
2006 issue of Winding Roads, Motorcycle Times - Beguiling
Byways column.
"As to how I came upon your book..... my son-in-law
borrowed it from a friend who is in the CMA and uses it for
rides in his chapter. Look forward to using it often!"

"I told my riding buddies to check out your website
http://www.greatroadsgreatrides.com! I strongly encouraged them
to do so. I bought your book and received it the other day, and
it has me really excited to check out the local riding. All of
the rides are in our own backyard rather than the West Coast for
a change, and the directions and maps look pretty complete and
clear to me on first inspection. I think it's well worth the
price."

"I have been meaning to e-mail you fellas and say what a great
job you have done with the Great Roads, Great Rides travel
guide. My husband and I are relative beginners compared to your
years of experience.
This book is like having one of you fellas along for the
ride. As we are not from this area originally it gives us an
idea of where to go on a sunny Sunday that will not land us in
the middle of traffic congestion and frustration, but instead
gives us an idea of back roads and scenic rides that make the
best memories.
I gave this book to my husband as a gift at Easter.
(Truthfully didn't want to wait till Father's day). And we spent
the day reading through all the rides and marking out which ones
interested us the most.
The things I like best about this book are:
- Size - Thanks for making it portable.
- Spiral bound - Makes for easy copy for the day trip.
- Directions are clear - And thank-you for explaining the
mileage thing - we had to learn how to read directions this
way on our first poker run and failed miserably since we
didn't know the lingo.
- Maps are good to get your bearings
Thanks also for the road laws of neighboring states - a good
reference for those of us not up on all the requirements outside
of MD.
But I really love the Route/Ride Matrix in the back. Quick
reference of all the goodies of all the rides.
All in all a great little book. Money well spent!
Well gotta go, the sun is shining and its not raining. It
must be motorcycle season!!"
